GoldenslothStudio

A studio born from game jams

Joining game jams to prototype ideas, test mechanics and build a creative vision, project after project.

GoldenslothStudio

7 game jams, 7 games, 7 years

Since 2018, I've been leading GoldenSlothStudio through annual game jams. The concept: 48 to 72 hours to turn an imposed theme into a playable game.

A video game is probably one of the most complex objects in software. You need text, music, graphics, animations, physics and code to coexist — each format has its own constraints, and everything must come together as a coherent artistic whole. It's not just code that runs. It's a product where the slightest mismatch between sound and image, between a mechanic and visual feedback, is felt immediately.

In a game jam, this complexity plays out under particular conditions. The team sometimes changes from one edition to the next. You end up collaborating with people you don't know, each with their own tools, habits and skill level. You have to scope the project, assign tasks, make creative and technical calls — all without a safety net, with a deadline that doesn't move.

Seven editions later, it's become a ritual. Each jam is a concentrated exercise in project management, game design and problem-solving under pressure.
